POLICIES
Independent Candidate for Darebin
POLICIES
As your Councillor, this is what I will advocate for us:
- Relief for those who need it and a better return on your investment in council rates
- Improving the fairness and availability of parking in your area
- Increasing the availability of childcare and kinder places for young families
- Enhancing aged care services to include IT skills training and visitation programs to combat loneliness among the elderly
- Grants and ongoing support for small businesses affected by the pandemic including resources to fast track new hospitality trading permits
- Increasing tourism to Darebin benefiting local traders, through new exhibitions, events, markets and festivals
- Upgrading walking and bike paths with solar lighting, bike repair and water stations
- Upgrading parks and playgrounds with better play and exercise equipment, water and sanitary facilities
- Affordable housing, appropriate and sustainable development
Projects I will pursue for the northern part of Darebin include:
- Rapid delivery of the Metropolitan Rail Loop
- A new library service for Kingsbury/Bundoora
- Upgrading Reservoir Leisure Centre
- Saving Strathallan Open Space
- A new boat house at Edwardes Lake
- Cleaning Edwardes lake enabling water activity
- A urgent fire safety and flood safety plan for Springthorpe Estate
- Drainage upgrades to flood prone areas
I will also be an advocate for increased communication between Constituents and Councillors using technology and other forums as best as possible given the restrictions we are current facing.
If there are any issues you would like me to address in Council, please email me at darebin@adamcursio.com.au.

With just a few days to go until voting closes, I would like to thank all the people who helped me with this campaign. All the phone calls, texts and even a handwritten letter from a resident were humbling to receive. Should I be privileged to be elected to Council you will gain a transparent insight into what goes on in Local Government through an independent lens and an opportunity to have your voice heard in Darebin. You can visit www.adamcursio.com.au to see my policies and please contact me to discuss any a local issues. Good luck to all candidates in every ward and regardless of the result, I welcome ongoing communication between us all. ...

All we can do is learn from this and not let it happen again. Lygon St already had its struggles but this was the knockout punch. So sad to see 😥 So many of my friends and their families affected. Darebin's High Street is well poised to survive as one of Melbourne's iconic strips, but it will be a huge effort that requires spirit and a whole lot of love from the community. On behalf of all the business owners, please support your local as best you can. We all need you 🙏🏼 And to all the business owners, hang in there. Better days are coming! ...

Hundreds of Melbourne Doctors are calling for an end to lockdowns. The damage being done is immeasurable and now surely disproportionate to where we are in the pandemic. If elected, I will join the chorus of voices to try to bring an end to all of this. Those in power must start listening to the community and do what is right. Every voice counts and every vote counts in these Local Government elections. ...
